Strong Movement Supports Peas
PANAMA - Oct 23/16 - SNS -- International field pea markets maintained their relatively firm tone against strong export movement from the world's major suppliers.
Though movement appears to have slowed in October, compared to September, export clearances are up over last year for the months following the harvest.
Export clearances for August were up roughly 20,000 metric tons (MT) over last year at almost 78,000 for yellow and green peas combined, while whole and split pea exports from Canada were up 17,000 MT at almost 273,000.
