MELBOURNE - Oct 22/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front with an associate low over the southern Tasman Sea is crossing far northeastern New South Wales and a strong high pressure system near the Bight is moving east extending a ridge behind it. The high will move over the Tasman Sea on Tuesday and then it will continue to move east maintaining a ridge to the north. The next cold front is expected to move through the state during Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayHigh to very high chance of rain and showers across the north and east of the state with the chance of thunderstorms. Snow developing about Alpine peaks in the morning, lowering to 1000 metres about the southern ranges by evening. Small hail also possible about the southern ranges this afternoon and evening. Partly cloudy in the southwest. Fresh south to southeasterly winds, tending northwesterly in the northeast during the day.Sunday 23 OctoberSlight chance of a shower about the coastal fringe and adjacent ranges and on the western Alps. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Early frost patches on the ranges. South to southeasterly winds.Monday 24 OctoberMostly sunny. Early frost patches on the ranges. Southeast to southwest winds, tending northeasterly in the northeast later.Tuesday 25 OctoberPartly cloudy. Light winds tending northeast to northwesterly.Wednesday 26 OctoberSlight chance of showers in the southern half. partly cloudy elsewhere.
