Birdseed Value Mixed
PANAMA - Oct 14/16 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets registered a mixed performance during the past week, influenced by fundamentals for grains and oilseeds as well as for specific birdseeds.
Canada's canaryseed harvest was stalled by cold and wet conditions most of the previous week, with the result only 46% of the crop was in the bin by mid-week, compared to 63% last year and the recent average of over 83% complete after the first week of October.
The greater worry for markets is that unless fields are able to dry before winter settles in, they may not be able to harvest all their canaryseed, with some farmers seeing what they can get next spring.
