MELBOURNE - Sep 30/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep low near Tasmania will gradually weaken during Saturday. A ridge of high pressure will move over the northwest of South Australia today and then move east of the State early Saturday, ahead of a trough moving over the west later Saturday and a cold front moving across the State on Sunday. A series of fronts will move across the south of the State on Monday and Tuesday then a high will develop over the north on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayA slight to medium chance of showers about the agricultural area and far south of the North East Pastoral district, increasing to a high chance about southern coasts and ranges. Cool with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong about central and southeastern coasts.Saturday 1 OctoberFine apart from the slight chance of showers about the South East and Mount Lofty Ranges districts during the early morning. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the west, with moderate to fresh northerly winds shifting milder west to southwesterly in the west during the day.Sunday 2 OctoberA slight to medium chance of showers extending from the west, increasing to a high to very high chance over the southern agricultural area during the evening. Possible thunderstorms about western and southern coasts and also over the Pastoral, Flinders, Mid North, Riverland and Murraylands districts. Showers increasing to high chance of rain periods in the North East Pastoral. Warm in the far north with fresh to strong north to northwesterly winds, ahead of a colder fresh to strong west to southwest change extending throughout.Monday 3 OctoberA high to very high chance of showers over the southern agricultural, with possible heavy falls about the Mount Lofty Ranges. A slight to medium chance of showers over the northern agricultural area, south of the pastorals and far northeast. Possible morning thunderstorms about the South East districts. Cool in the south, grading to warm in the far north. Fresh to strong westerly winds in the south, moderate in the north.Tuesday 4 October A slight to medium chance of showers about the agricultural area and far south of the pastorals, increasing to high to very high chance over the southern agricultural, particularly over the Mount Lofty Ranges. Cool to mild. Fresh to strong westerly winds in the south, moderate in the north. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Tuesday are expected to be 5 to 15 mm generally across the State. Increasing to 15 to 30 mm about the southern agricultural area, 40 to 80 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges with isolated falls of 80 to 100 mm possible about the high parts of the ranges. The majority of these falls are expected to occur from late on Sunday, with the peak on Monday and continued falls on Tuesday. Wednesday until FridaySlight chance of showers about southern coasts, fine on Thursday.
