MELBOURNE - Sep 30/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system lies over Tasmania, and is slowly slipping away to the southeast. A weak high pressure ridge will build across New South Wales on Saturday as the low moves further away, before the next cold front is expected to cross the state during Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayShowers persisting through most southern and central areas, particularly about the central and southwestern slopes and ranges. Thunderstorms also possible across the south and central west. Snow possible above 1200 metres on the southern ranges, lifting late in the evening. Cold and fresh to strong westerly winds, gale force at times across parts of the central and northern ranges and coast.Saturday 1 OctoberScattered showers about the southeastern inland and the central west slopes and ranges, clearing during the afternoon. Partly cloudy for the remainder. Westerly winds, remaining fresh in the east.Fire Danger - Very High: Far North CoastSunday 2 OctoberCloud increasing. Rain developing in the west, extending to the western slopes of the ranges late in the day. Isolated thunderstorms in the far west and south. North to northwesterly winds, shifting westerly in the west later.Monday 3 OctoberRain extending across the state, heaviest about the southern and central western slopes and ranges. Fresh to strong north to northwesterly winds, with a westerly change extending through central and southern areas during the day.Tuesday 4 OctoberShowers persisting across the southern slopes and ranges, with the chance about the central west. Dry and mostly sunny elsewhere.
