MELBOURNE - Sep 29/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation An intense low pressure system will weaken tonight as it moves over northwest Victoria. The system is likely to become more complex tonight with more than one low pressure centre likely. The system will then drift southwards across Tasmania by Friday night resulting in a westerly airflow across Victoria on Saturday. A cold front is expected to reach western Victoria late on Sunday then cross the State early on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayShowers throughout with isolated thunderstorms. Snowfalls to 1200 metres in the east. Fresh to strong northerly winds easing.Friday 30 SeptemberScattered showers tending isolated in the northwest and over Gippsland, falling as snow above 1200 metres, rising to 1400 metres in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms possible during the afternoon. Cool to cold with light to moderate westerly winds, fresh at times in the south west.Saturday 1 OctoberScattered showers in the south and east, clearing from the west during the late morning and afternoon and falling as snow above 1500 metres. A cool to mild day with moderate westerly winds.Sunday 2 OctoberFine and mild at first. Rain developing in the west during the afternoon, reaching the east at night. Strengthening northerly winds shifting cooler westerly from the west during the afternoon.Monday 3 OctoberRain contracting east then clearing later in the morning. Showers to follow, more widespread on and south of the ranges.
