Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 28/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system in the Bight is moving eastwards. This low, together with a strong cold front, will move across New South Wales during today and Friday, bringing widespread rain and strong winds to many parts of New South Wales in this period. A weak high pressure ridge will build across the state on Saturday, before the next cold front is expected to cross the state during Sunday and Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain and possible gusty thunderstorms through most areas, with possibly heavy falls about the central and south west. Rain clearing from the west through the day, although with isolated showers and thunderstorms persisting about the southwest. Snow possible above about 1200 metres about the Alpine areas from late afternoon. Gusty and strong west to northwesterly winds through most areas, particularly the far west. Winds gale force at times in parts of the far west, central west and over parts of the ranges.Friday 30 SeptemberShowers persisting through most southern and central areas, particularly about the central and southwestern slopes and the Riverina where thunderstorms are also possible. Snow possible above 900 to 1000 metres on the southern and central ranges. Cold and fresh to strong westerly winds.Saturday 1 OctoberScattered showers about the southeastern inland and the central west slopes and ranges, clearing during the afternoon. Partly cloudy for the remainder. Westerly winds, remaining fresh in the east.Sunday 2 OctoberCloud increasing. Rain developing in the west, extending to the western slopes of the ranges late in the day. North to northwesterly winds, turning more westerly in the west later.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDN10031
