Smallest SAF Bean Harvest Since 2007

PRETORIA - Sep 27/16 - SNS -- South Africa's dry edible bean harvest was unchanged from previous estimates in the final crop report for summer crops, according to the South Africa Grain Information Service (SAGIS).

This year's seeded area remains at 34,300 hectares, down from 64,000 last year; while production was pegged at 34,445 metric tons (MT), down from 73,390 last year.

This is the lowest seeded area in over 30 years and the first time since 2007 that production has dropped under 40,000 MT.
