Pea Harvest Wrapping Up

PANAMA - Sep 25/16 - SNS -- Canada's field pea harvest is wrapping up with Saskatchewan Agriculture saying more than 97% of the crop is now in the bin, the same as last year and the recent five-year average.

Markets continue to pay close attention to the situation In India. The first production estimate for 2016-17 reveals a massive increase in kharif season pulse production. That will have more impact on demand for green lentils than field peas.

However, India's government has also set massive production targets for the coming rabi season. It wants to see desi-type chickpea output jump from 7.17 million o a record 9.6 million metric tons (MT).
