MELBOURNE - Sep 25/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front crossing waters south of the Bight will cross Victoria later Monday, then a weak ridge of high pressure will move across northern Victoria on Tuesday. The next low pressure trough and associated low pressure system is forecast to cross the Bight during Wednesday. The low will intensify and will be located just to the west of Victoria Wednesday night as the associated trough enters northwestern Victoria. This system is expected to become more complex as it crosses Victoria on Thursday with more than one low pressure centre likely. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers across southern and mountain areas tending to clear this evening. Dry over the north. Southwesterly winds easing this evening.Monday 26 SeptemberMorning fog patches inland. Scattered showers developing across most areas, mainly during the afternoon and falling as snow above 1200 metres. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms and possible hail over western and central districts, extending to the east during the evening. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with moderate the fresh northwesterly winds, shifting westerly in the west later.Tuesday 27 SeptemberMorning fog patches inland. Scattered showers, mainly about the southwest coast and eastern ranges, falling as snow above 1200 metres. Only isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts and dry over the northwest. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate westerly winds.Wednesday 28 SeptemberDry during the morning, but rain areas extending from the northwest during the afternoon with some heavy falls likely over the northwest late afternoon and evening and the chance of thunderstorms. A mild day with moderate to fresh north to northeasterly winds ahead of a late westerly change of the far west at night.Thursday 29 SeptemberWidespread showers, tending to rain areas over the eastern ranges and over parts of southwest Victoria with some heavy falls. Isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the north and over the far southeast.
