Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 30/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will move slowly eastwards. A low pressure system centred over the south of the Bight will weaken while moving southeastwards, dissipating later on Tuesday. A high pressure system will move across the north of the State on Wednesday then another low pressure system will develop near the western border on Thursday and then move northeastwards during the day. A high pressure system will move across from the west in the wake of the low.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of rain east of a line Oodnadatta to Kingscote contracting to the far northeast by late evening. A slight to medium chance of showers with possible thunderstorms to follow over the agricultural area, the Flinders district and the far south of the pastoral districts, with thunderstorms particularly likely over Murraylands and Upper South East districts. Isolated early fog over the pastoral districts. Generally mild with mainly moderate northeast to northwesterly winds tending northwest to southwesterly over the west.Wednesday 31 AugustA slight chance of patchy rain about the far northeast, clearing during the morning. Possible isolated thunderstorms about the Lower South East early morning. Isolated early fog over the pastoral districts. A slight to medium chance of showers about the agricultural area, increasing to a high chance about the Lower South East, Kangaroo Island and the Mount Lofty Ranges. Generally mild with light winds in the north and moderate northwest to southwesterly winds in the south.Thursday 1 SeptemberAreas of rain developing over the West Coast and pastoral districts, with local heavy falls possible in the northeast of the North East Pastoral district. Isolated thunderstorms over the West Coast and North West Pastoral districts. A slight to medium chance of showers over the agricultural area. Generally cool with moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly winds, easing during the afternoon and becoming light and variable in the west.Friday 2 September
Areas of rain over the North East Pastoral contracting east and clearing during the day. Slight to medium chance of showers over remaining parts. Generally cool with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds easing later.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Friday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm about the agricultural area and the far west and far south of the pastoral districts, increasing to 10 to 20 mm over the remainder of the pastoral districts and central and eastern parts of the southern agricultural area. Totals of 20 to 40 mm are expected over the north of the North East Pastoral district with local falls of 50 to 80 mm in the northeast.
Saturday until MondaySlight to medium chance of showers about the southern agricultural area, Eyre Peninsula and the West Coast district, gradually contracting southwards to be confined to Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East by Monday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Tuesday.Product IDS10033
