MELBOURNE - Aug 29/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system south of the Bight will weaken on Tuesday, but an associated trough will approach western Victoria Tuesday night and move across the State on Wednesday. On Thursday a weak high pressure ridge is expected to extend over Victoria as another low pressure system develops near Central Australia. This low is expected to intensify as it drifts southeastwards across New South Wales on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers extending from the western border, reaching central districts by midnight. Moderate to fresh north to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 30 AugustA band of rain moving across the State, reaching the far east at night with some heavy falls possible over the north central and northeast districts overnight. Scattered showers to follow the rain band and isolated thunderstorms extending from the western border during the evening. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh north to northeasterly winds, strong about elevated areas.Wednesday 31 AugustRain over eastern Victoria during the early morning with some heavy falls over the northeast, clearing eastwards. Scattered showers to follow across the State, although mostly dry over the northwest. Local thunderstorms, mainly over central and eastern districts, contracting eastwards during the day and clearing at night. A generally mild day with moderate northwesterly winds.Thursday 1 SeptemberIsolated showers, scattered over the southwest. Cool to mild with light winds.Friday 2 SeptemberShowers possibly tending to areas of rain over eastern Victoria. Showers tending more isolated towards the western border.
