Field Pea Deliveries Jump

PANAMA - Aug 29/16 - SNS -- Grower deliveries into the bulk handling system are strong given the smaller carryover and slow start to the Canadian harvest.

Deliveries during the third week of August pushed past 400,000 metric tons (MT). Roughly 15% of the crop had been harvested by the middle of August or roughly 690,000 MT of product, with a quarter of the crop harvested during the third week.

Canadian harvest progress for the first three weeks of August 22 pushed past 40% complete, compared to 58% last year and the recent five-year average of 40%. In volume terms, roughly 1.84 million MT of peas were harvested during the first three weeks of August, compared to 1.85 million last year.
