Mixed Week in Birdseeds

PANAMA - Aug 20/16 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredients finished the week's trading with a generally firmer undertone, helped by strength in outside markets.

Confection sunflower and white proso millet was mainly unchanged in the United States, while oil-type sunflower posted significant gains on the week in synpathy with canola dn soybean markets, which for the second time posted week over week gains.

Canadian canaryseed markets were unchanged in grower markets, but slightly easier in dealer markets over optimism about yields. In its unofficial yeild estimates, Saskatchewan Agriculture expects canaryseed to be alightly above average this year, with a chance production could come in around 148,000 metric tons (MT), for a smaller than expected drop from last year's 152,600 MT harvest.
