Oat Outlook Improves A Little

WASHINGTON - Aug 12/16 - SNS -- Oats production is forecast at 76.9 million bushels in the United States, up less than 1% from the July 1 forecast but down 14% from 2015, according to the USDA's latest estimate for the crop.

Growers expect to harvest 1.17 million acres for grain or seed, unchanged from July but down 9% from last year. Based on conditions as of August 1, the United States yield is forecast at 66.0 bushels per acre, up 0.2 bushel from the July 1 forecast but 4.2 bushels below the 2015 average yield.
