Mixed Finish For Edible Beans

PANAMA - Aug 7/16 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets maintained their mixed tone through the past week, with most buyers still absent from markets and those sellers with product on hand increasingly anxious to coinclude new business.

North American sellers are mostly withdrawn, waiting for the crop to develop further before adding to sales. This was reflected in the U.S. spot index for beans, which finished the week down 0.10 points at 139.9.

By contrast, the world pulse price index finished lower on the week, sank 4.7 points to finish at 188.9. This is the first time the index has been below 200 this calendar year, continuing the downward trend which started after the index peaked in May. At the same time, the Canadian index dropped 1.9 points to close at 180.
