Easier Tone Underlying Beans

PANAMA - Jul 31/16 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets are heading into the 2016-17 marketing year on a mixed note, with markets easing in sympathy with other pulses.

This was reflected in the U.S. spot index for beans, which finished the week down 5.0 points at 139.7.

By contrast, the world pulse price index finished lower on the week, sank 7.9 points to finish at 194.6. This is the first time the index has been below 200 this calendar year, continuing the downward trend which started after the index peaked in May. At the same time, the Canadian index dropped 7.3 points to close at 181.9.
