MELBOURNE - Jul 29/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over southeastern Australia extends a ridge of high pressure across the south of Queensland and along the tropical east coast. The high will move slowly eastwards over the next few days maintaining the ridge and mostly fine conditions across the state. A cold front will enter the southwest of the state during Monday and shift east on Tuesday, with showers extending further inland as a result. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine and clear across most of the state with only a slight chance of showers along the north eastern tropical coast and exposed parts of the east coast. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds over the tropics, mainly light southerly winds in the south.Saturday 30 JulyFine and sunny conditions across most of the state with only a slight to medium chance of showers along the north eastern tropical coast and exposed parts of the east coast. A cold morning with widespread early frosts about the southern and central interior. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds over the tropics, mainly light southerly winds in the south.Sunday 31 JulyThe high pressure system will move slowly eastwards over southeastern Queensland, with the ridge continuing to weaken along the tropical east coast. Fine and sunny conditions will continue across most of the state with only a slight to medium chance of showers along the north eastern tropical coast and exposed parts of the east coast. Early frosts are likely about parts of the southern and central interior.Monday 1 AugustThe high pressure system will move into the Coral Sea, with the ridge continuing to weaken along the Queensland east coast. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will continue across most of the state with only a slight to medium chance of showers along the north eastern tropical coast and exposed parts of the east coast. Early frosts become less likely. A cold front will enter the southwest of the state during the day and warm air ahead of this system will lead to warmer than average temperatures across the south.Tuesday 2 AugustThe high pressure system will move towards New Zealand, with the ridge continuing to weaken along the Queensland east coast. The cold front will move through the state, reaching the east coast at night. Showers are expected to develop to the east of the cold front, more so in the eastern districts. Slight chance of thunderstorms with the passage of the cold front. Cooler and drier air will spread through inland areas to the west of the cold front.Wednesday until FridayThe next high pressure system will move through the Bight on Wednesday then slip south of Tasmania as a low pressure system develops in the southern Tasman Sea. Cool and dry air will affect most of inland Queensland during the outlook period. Fine and mostly sunny conditions are expected for most of the state with only a slight to medium chance of showers along the north eastern tropical coast, and shifting northwards during Thursday and Friday.
