Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 22/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak high over the southern Coral Sea extends a ridge along the east tropical coast. The high will continue to weaken as it moves east during the weekend. An unseasonally warm, moist airmass remains in place across most of Queensland, however a cold front will move eastwards through the south of the state during the weekend, extending a cooler and drier air mass into the state.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayA slight chance of a shower in the southeast interior and the north tropical coast. Warmer than normal temperatures will continue across much of the state with areas of morning fog about central and northern parts of the state. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly in the southern interior, tending west to northwesterly in central districts and the southeast. Light to moderate east to southeasterly in the north.Sunday 24 JulyDry and stable air mass will maintain fine and sunny conditions across most central and southern districts of the state, although some high cloud will stream eastwards across the area. The slight chance of showers about the northern tropical coast in a weak onshore flow.Monday 25 JulyDry and stable air mass will maintain fine and sunny conditions across most central and southern districts of the state. The slight chance of showers about the northern tropical coast in a weak onshore flow.Tuesday 26 JulyAs a high pressure system moves across central Australia, winds will tend more onshore along the northern tropical coast with a slight to medium chance of showers. A developing upper trough over southern Australia may increase cloud over southern and central Queensland, however little to no rain is expected. Otherwise, fine weather will continue across much of the state as the dry and stable conditions persist.Wednesday until FridayThe high pressure system will move slowly east across southeastern Australia as the upper trough moves across the state. The upper trough will increase the chances of showers in central districts, however the movement and intensity of the upper trough is uncertain at this point in time. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will continue across the rest of the state with only a slight to medium chance of showers along the north eastern tropics and the southeast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDQ10700
