MELBOURNE - Jul 22/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over central Victoria will cross the remainder of the State this morning. A weak ridge will move over the State later tonight ahead of another cold front which will cross the State during Sunday afternoon and evening. Further fronts will cross the State on Monday and Wednesday. On Wednesday a large high pressure system will be located to the north of Adelaide. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers across southern and mountain areas with local hail. Isolated showers extending north of the divide during the morning. Showers contracting towards the coast and northeast ranges during the late afternoon and evening. Snow above 700 metres. The chance of a thunderstorms in southern areas during the morning. Cold and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong to gale force in southern and mountain districts during the morning and early afternoon.Sunday 24 JulyScattered showers over the southwest and about the northeast ranges, mostly during the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers extending over remaining districts, through generally dry over East Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms developing over the far southwest later. Showers falling as snow above 800 metres. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, strengthening from the west later.Monday 25 JulyShowers over southern and mountain areas although dry in the far southeast. Isolated showers over remaining districts. Showers falling as snow above 700 metres. Isolated thunderstorms possible near the coast. Local hail in southern and mountain areas. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 26 JulyScattered showers, mainly over southern and mountain districts. Isolated thunder and hail possible near the coast. Snow above 800 metres.
