MELBOURNE - Jul 20/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough extends across the north of New South Wales and is slowly moving northeast. A rain band associated with this trough will contract east over the Tasman Sea today. Another rain band is expected to move through southern parts of the state on Friday ahead of the next cold front. On the weekend a ridge of high pressure will strengthen over the north of the state as a second front slips across the south on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of morning fog. Morning rain in the northeast. Isolated showers across much of the remainder of the state, tending scattered along the southern slopes during the afternoon. Mild, with variable winds along the coast and west to northwesterly winds inland.Friday 22 JulyRain on the southern half of the ranges and western slopes. Snow developing on the Alps above 1400 metres later. Showers over much of the remainder, but remaining fine on the north coast and in the far northwest. Mild, with strengthening northwesterly winds.Saturday 23 JulyShowers on the ranges, western slopes and parts of the coast. Snow showers over the Alps lowering to about 1000 metres. Colder with strong west to southwest winds.Sunday 24 JulyShowers on the southern half of the ranges and western slopes. Snow showers over the Alps above about 1000 metres.
