Dry Beans Find Firm Footing

PANAMA - Jul 16/16 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a generally firmer tone despite a decline in overall trading activity.

Expectations of ongoing demand from Mexico and other Latin American destinations combined with unexpected problems with Argentina's white alubia bean crop to strengthen values.

This was reflected in the U.S. spot index for beans, which finished the week up 2.4 points at 154. By contrast, the world pulse price index finished lower on the week, sinking 6.8 points to finish at 223.3. At the same time, the Canadian index plunged 7.1 points to close at 216.4.
