Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 30/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong cold front over central Victoria will move eastwards and weaken this evening. A low pressure trough over western Victoria will reach central districts during Friday morning then weaken. A high pressure system will develop over South Australia this evening then move slowly eastwards across New South Wales during the weekend as a low pressure trough develops over the Bight. The trough will approach southwestern Victoria on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, tending to areas of rain in the northeast, though only isolated showers across East Gippsland and the far northwest. Isolated thunderstorms and local hail over central and western districts contracting to the coast and far northeast during the evening . Snowfalls above 1000 metres at first, lowering to 800 metres later. Cold and mostly cloudy with fresh to strong north to northwesterly winds, shifting westerly from the west during the evening and easing at night.Friday 1 JulyPatchy morning fog in the north. Scattered showers, mainly on and south of the ranges, becoming isolated during the afternoon and generally contracting to the coast during the evening. Dry over the far northwest. Showers falling as snow above 800 metres at first, rising to 1500 metres later. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with light to moderate westerly winds, fresh along the coast.Saturday 2 JulyPatchy morning fog in the north. Isolated showers, most likely over the northeast ranges and the southwest. Dry over the far northwest. Showers falling as snow above 1600 metres. Cool and mostly cloudy with light to moderate westerly winds, fresh at times along the coast.Sunday 3 JulyPatchy morning fog in the north. Isolated showers, mainly over the northeast ranges and southwest. Dry across the far northeast and east. Showers falling as snow above 1600 metres. Cool and mostly cloudy with light to moderate northwesterly winds.Monday 4 JulyScattered showers across the southwest and northeast ranges, with isolated showers developing across remaining northern and western districts during the afternoon and evening. Dry over Gippsland. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres. Cool and mostly cloudy with light to moderate northerly winds, fresh at times in the southwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Friday.Product IDV10310
