MELBOURNE - Jun 29/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system currently lies over southeastern Australia. The high will begin to weaken on Thursday morning as a cold front approaches the state, with the front expected to cross New South Wales on Thursday night and Friday morning. A new high pressure system will follow in the wake of the change and become the dominant feature over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdaySlight chance of showers over the far southern ranges and adjacent western slopes, falling as snow above 1600 metres. Mostly clear elsewhere. Light and variable winds in the east, more moderate northerly in the far west.Thursday 30 JuneShowers and rain developing across the the southern half of the inland, tending more widespread over the southern Alps and the southwest slopes. Snow developing above 1200 metres over the Alps. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Areas of morning frost about the ranges and slopes. West to northwesterly winds.Friday 1 JulyShowers over the southern half of the ranges and adjacent western slopes, clearing later in the day. Showers falling as snow above 900 metres at first on the southern ranges, and 1100 metres on the central ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere inland, and mostly sunny along the coast. West to southwesterly winds.Saturday 2 JulyA shower or two over the western part of the southern ranges and the southwest slopes, falling as snow above 1600 metres. Partly cloudy elsewhere inland, and mostly sunny along the coast. Areas of morning fog along the central and northern ranges. South to southwesterly winds tending variable inland.Sunday 3 JulyThe chance of a shower or two along the western part of the southern ranges and the southwest slopes, falling as snow above 1600 metres. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Widespread morning frosts, with areas of morning fog along the ranges and across the southern inland.
