MELBOURNE - Jun 29/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over New South Wales will move slowly east today. A strong cold front to the west will cross the State on Thursday. Another high pressure system will develop over South Australia later on Friday then move slowly eastwards during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers possible over the southwest and northeast ranges. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres. Cloud increasing with strengthening northerly winds.Thursday 30 JunePatchy rain, more widespread across the northeast, contracting eastwards during the afternoon then clearing at night. Scattered showers to follow with hail and thunder possible, mainly on and south of the ranges. Snowfalls above 1200 metres at first, lowering to 800 metres later. Cool to cold and mostly cloudy with fresh to strong northerly winds, reaching gale force at times in alpine areas, shifting westerly from the west during the afternoon and easing at night.Friday 1 JulyScattered showers, mainly on and south of the ranges, easing. Fine over the far northwest. Showers falling as snow above 800 metres at first, rising to 1400 metres later. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with light to moderate westerly winds, fresh across the south.Saturday 2 JulyIsolated showers, most likely over the northeast ranges and the southwest. Showers falling as snow above 1600 metres. Cool and mostly cloudy with light to moderate westerly winds, fresh at times across the south.Sunday 3 JulyIsolated showers about the northern slopes. Scattered showers developing over the southwest later.
