MELBOURNE - Jun 28/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over New South Wales extends a ridge southwards across Victoria. The high will move slowly east on Wednesday as a strong cold front develops over the Bight. The front will cross the State on Thursday, while another high pressure system develops over the Bight on Friday and moves over South Australia on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers in the southwest with isolated showers about the ranges and central coast. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres. Fog patches along the northern slopes of the divide. Cool and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate west northwesterly winds.Wednesday 29 JuneAreas of morning fog and frost and fog in the north and east. Isolated showers possible over southern and mountain districts, mainly over the southwest. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate northerly winds, strengthening in the south and west later.Thursday 30 JuneScattered showers, tending to rain across the ranges, contracting to southern and eastern districts during the evening. Local hail and thunder possible about the southwest and central coasts during the late afternoon and evening. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres, lowering to 1000 metres later. A cool to cold and mostly cloudy day with fresh to strong northerly winds shifting west to southwesterly from the west.Friday 1 JulyIsolated showers, more frequent across southern and mountain areas although dry across the far northwest. Showers falling as snow above 1000 metres at first, rising to 1500 metres later. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with light to moderate westerly winds, fresh across the south.Saturday 2 JulyIsolated showers, more extensive across the southwest and northeast ranges. Showers falling as snow above 1600 metres.
