Buying Interest Supports Dry Beans

PANAMA - Jun 17/16 - SNS -- The world's dry edible bean markets continue to be supported by good buying interest for colored and large caliber white beans.

Processors in the United States report excellent demand for pinto, navy and black beans, with good movement reported against earlier sales. Smaller crops in Mexico and Brazil is fueling demand in both nearby and deferred shipping positions.

This was reflected in the U.S. spot index for beans, which finished the week up 0.5 points at 150 points. By contrast, the world pulse price index finished lower on the week, dropping 4.7 points to finish at 237.7. At the same time, the Canadian index sank 3.7 points to close at 236.6.
