Birdseeds Mostly Unchanged

PANAMA - Jun 11/16 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets were unchanged to firmer during the past week.

White proso millet, confection sunflower and canaryseed were unchanged; while oil-type sunflower advanced in sympathy with oilseed markets.

The U.S. based National Sunflower Association notes that oil-type sunflower prices "have followed the upward trend adding 75 to 95 cents to old crop and 70 to 90 cents to new crop prices.

"The rally has been led by technical buying and uncertainty in Argentine soybean production. Just how much damage floods caused in Argentina remains uncertain. The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange said harvest was getting to the finish line, with some of the flood areas just being cut now. The exchange kept its production estimate at 2.06 billion bushels, slightly less than USDA's May forecast but not as dire as many in the market have predicted."
