Still Bigger Lentil Crop Expected
CESME - May 30/16 - SNS -- The world is looking at another year of tight green lentil supplies, but increasing red lentil inventories, suggests comments by speakers and participants at this year's Global Pulse Confederation conference in Cesme, Turkey.
There is a general belief that lentil area is greater than suggested by Statistics Canada's seeding intentions report.
As seeding progressed, many farmers continued planting because conditions were good and prospective returns from crops which compete for land use were poor by comparison.
