Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 29/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strengthening high pressure system near Tasmania extends a ridge into New South Wales, promoting generally fine weather across the region today. This high is expected to move slowly east across the Tasman Sea during the next few days, generating an increasingly showery onshore airstream about coastal areas, while a weak trough may also create unsettled conditions in the state's west. Towards the end of the week, it is likely that a low pressure system will develop over the state's northern inland in response to a significant upper-level trough, bringing some rain to northern and eastern districts. There is a chance that this trough may also lead to another low developing off the coast, before the entire system moves out to sea on the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of MondayA very cold morning, with widespread frosts on the ranges and western slopes. Fine apart from a late shower or two in the far west near the South Australian border, and possibly along the southern and central coastal fringe. Early fog patches, mainly about the tablelands, otherwise mostly sunny. Generally light winds inland, tending south to southwesterly near the coast.Tuesday 31 MayMorning frost patches over the ranges and western slopes. A few showers developing along the coastal fringe, mainly southern and central parts, possibly extending to adjacent parts of the ranges in the south. A shower or two in the west, more likely near the South Australian border. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 1 JuneA few showers about central and southern parts of the coast. The chance of a shower in remaining eastern and southern areas. Fine in the northwest. East to southeasterly winds.Thursday 2 JuneA few showers east of the ranges, mainly about southern and central parts of the coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Mostly east to southeasterly winds. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDN10031
