Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 24/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over New South Wales will move slowly eastwards and reach the Tasman Sea by Wednesday evening. A cold front over the Bight will slip southeast of Tasmania on Wednesday then a trough will develop to the west before moving across Victoria during Thursday. Another low pressure system is expected to develop to the southwest of Victoria later on Thursday and move over the State later on Friday. Another high pressure system will develop over South Australia during Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers about the far southwest and East Gippsland coast, clearing during the evening. Dry and partly cloudy elsewhere. Light westerly winds tending northerly across the west later.Wednesday 25 MayMorning fog in the east. Cloud increasing with rain areas developing across western districts during the morning and extending throughout during the afternoon and evening. Only patchy rain across Gippsland. The risk of thunderstorms in the west during the afternoon and evening. A cool day with moderate north to northwesterly winds, freshening in the south and west during the morning and afternoon.Thursday 26 MayAreas of rain across central and eastern districts, contracting east and clearing during the afternoon. Scattered showers to follow, particularly across southern and mountain areas. Snowfalls about the Alpine peaks at first, lowering to 1200m during the afternoon and evening. Cool and cloudy with moderate north to northwesterly winds, tending southwesterly across western districts during the morning and central and eastern districts during the afternoon and evening.Friday 27 MayIsolated showers, becoming more extensive across western districts during the afternoon and evening. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. Cool and cloudy with light winds tending westerly during the morning.Saturday 28 MayScattered showers across southern and mountain areas. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Showers falling as snow above 1200m. Cool and cloudy with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
