MELBOURNE - May 24/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the eastern states will continue to move eastwards allowing a front to move across South Australia on Wednesday and Thursday. A low pressure system is expected to move over the southeast on Friday followed by another high on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayA slight chance of a shower developing west of Ceduna this evening. Mostly clear in the east. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Wednesday 25 MaySlight to medium chance of rain extending over parts of the State south of about Coober Pedy, increasing to a high to very high chance of rain south of about Leigh Creek. Cool in the south grading to warm in the northwest with mainly moderate north to northwesterly winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change extending over western and coastal parts later in the day.Thursday 26 MaySlight to medium chance of rain over northern parts of the State, easing during the day and clearing towards midnight. A slight to medium chance of a shower over agricultural areas and southern Pastoral districts, more likely about the coasts of the West Coast district later in the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms over western coastal waters later. Cool in the south, warm in the north with mainly moderate west to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Friday 27 May Slight to medium chance of a shower about northern agricultural areas and southern Pastoral districts, increasing to a high to very high chance over southern agricultural areas. Possible isolated thunderstorms south of a line about Elliston to Clare to Lameroo, with possible small hail south of Adelaide. Generally cool with freshening northwesterly winds ahead of a fresh to strong southwesterly change Saturday 28 May Fine apart from a slight to medium chance of showers over the southern agricultural area, the western coasts and about the southern Flinders Ranges, all clearing later in the day. Cool with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds becoming light and variable from the west during the afternoon and evening. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Saturday are expected to be less than 2 mm over the northern pastoral districts, increasing to 2 to 10 mm about the southern pastoral districts, northern agricultural area and western districts, and to 10 to 20 mm about western coasts and the southern agricultural area. Local falls of 20 to 40 mm are possible about the Mount Lofty Ranges and near western and southern coasts. Sunday until TuesdayA slight chance of showers re-developing early next week. Cool to cold mornings inland and generally cool to mild during the day.
