MELBOURNE - May 23/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system southeast of Tasmania will deepen and move towards New Zealand as a high pressure system develops over South Australia. The high will move over New South Wales on Tuesday and extend a ridge southwards over Victoria. A cold front will slip southeast of Tasmania on Wednesday then a trough will develop to the west before moving across Victoria during Thursday. Another low pressure system is expected to develop to the southwest of Victoria later on Thursday and move over the State later on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers across southern and mountain districts clearing in the west during the evening. Snow falls down to 1300m. Fresh and gusty west to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast, easing inland during the evening.Tuesday 24 MayIsolated showers across the far southwest clearing during the afternoon. Isolated showers also across Central and Gippsland coasts, contracting east and clearing during the evening. Morning fog and frost patches in the north then a mostly sunny day with light winds. Cool and partly cloudy in the south with light to moderate westerly winds.Wednesday 25 MayMorning fog and frost in the east. Cloud increasing with rain areas developing across western districts during the morning and extending throughout during the afternoon and evening. Only patchy rain across Gippsland. A cool day with moderate north to northwesterly winds, freshening in the south and west during the afternoon and evening.Thursday 26 MayRain areas easing to showers in the west, falling as snow above 1600m. Cool and cloudy with moderate north to northwesterly winds, tending southwesterly across western districts during the morning and central and eastern districts during the afternoon and evening.Friday 27 MayScattered showers, more frequent across the north and west. Showers falling as snow above 1300m.
