MELBOURNE - May 23/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front over western Victoria cross the remainder of the State on Monday morning. A new high pressure system will develop over South Australia on Monday and extend a ridge over Victoria on Tuesday as it moves across New South Wales. A cold front will slip southeast of Tasmania on Wednesday as a trough develops, crossing the State during Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers except in the northwest, contracting to southern and mountain districts during the morning. Isolated thunderstorms and local hail possible in the south, mainly near the coast. Showers easing further during the afternoon, clearing the west in the evening. Snow falls down to 1300m. A generally cool day with fresh and gusty west to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Tuesday 24 MayIsolated showers about the Gippsland and eastern Central coasts, contracting to the east Gippsland coast by the afternoon. Morning fog and frost patches inland then a mostly sunny day. Cool with generally light winds.Wednesday 25 MayMorning fog and frost in the east. Cloud increasing with rain areas developing from the west during the day and falling as snow about Alpine peaks. A cool day with moderate north to northwesterly winds, freshening in the west during the afternoon.Thursday 26 MayRain areas easing in the west during the day, falling as snow about Alpine peaks.
