MELBOURNE - May 23/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will develop over northern parts of the State today then move east during Tuesday. A front will move across the south of the State on Wednesday and Thursday then a low pressure system is expected to move over the southeast on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondaySlight chance of showers over the southern agricultural area, more likely about the southern coasts and ranges. Showers contracting to southern coasts early this morning then mostly clearing in the afternoon. A slight chance of an early shower in the far northeast. Cool to mild with moderate westerly winds in the south, tending southeasterly over the pastoral districts, then northerly in the far west.Tuesday 24 MayFine apart from the slight chance of a shower about the Lower South East coast during the morning and about the far west of the West Coast district in the late evening. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Wednesday 25 MaySlight to medium chance of showers extending over parts of the State south of Coober Pedy to Broken Hill, increasing to a medium to high chance south of about Leigh Creek. Cool in the south grading to warm in the northwest with mainly moderate north to northwesterly winds becoming westerly in the west.Thursday 26 May Slight to medium chance of showers over parts of the State south of Moomba to Pukatja/Ernabella, increasing to a medium to high chance south of about Coober Pedy. Cool in the south, warm in the north with mainly moderate west to southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Thursday are expected to be less than 2 mm over the northern pastoral districts, increasing to 2 to 10 mm about the southern pastorals, northern agricultural area and western districts, and to 10 to 15 mm about the southern agricultural area. Local falls of 15 to 25 mm are possible about southern coasts and the Mt Lofty Ranges. Friday until SundayThe chance of showers over the agricultural area and northeast of about Broken Hill to Coober Pedy, contracting to the southern agricultural area on Saturday. The chance of showers developing about the southern coasts later on Sunday.
