Pea Shipments Drop in April

WINNIPEG - May 18/16 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 128,600 metric tons (MT) field pea were loaded for export through licensed terminal and primary elevators which are required to report to it all grain movement in April.

The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals.

The CGC reports exports are virtually unchanged from the 128,200 MT shipped the same month last year and down 31% from the 187,000 MT loaded for export the previous month. The total for March was revised upward from 135,700 MT.

Movement for the first nine months of the marketing year is up from the previous season, setting a record for the period. Shipments to date total 2.06 million MT, compared to 1.82 million during the same period last season.
