More Immediate Demand Than Beans

PANAMA - May 14/16 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a generally firmer note as buying interest pushed just ahead of quantities exporters are prepared to sell.

This was reflected in the spot market index for U.S. beans, which finished the week two points higher at 150.7. This is well below its record high of 200.93 set in February of 2012.

By contrast, bullish momentum in other pulse markets paused during the week, with the result the world pulse price index slipped 0.7 points to finish at 246.7. Similarly, the Canadian index slipped 0.4 points to close at 247.2.
