Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 2/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge will persist over northern parts of the State until late in the week. A cold front will pass over the south of the State on Tuesday followed by another front late Thursday and early Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayA slight to medium chance of showers about the southern agricultural area, increasing to a medium to high chance about the Mount Lofty Ranges, Kangaroo Island and western parts of Lower Eyre Peninsula and the Lower South East. A slight chance of showers in the far north. Cool in the south, mild in the north. Fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly winds in the south. Mainly light winds in the north.Tuesday 3 MayA slight to medium chance of showers over the agricultural area, increasing to a medium to high chance about the southern agricultural area and a high to very high chance about the Mount Lofty Ranges, Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East. Cool to mild in the south, warm in the north. Fresh to strong and gusty northwest to southwesterly winds in the south, easing late afternoon and evening. Light winds in the north becoming moderate west to southwesterly in the afternoon.Wednesday 4 MayPossible early fog about the West Coast district, far south of the North West Pastoral district and inland parts of Eyre Peninsula. A slight chance of a shower about the West Coast district, southern agricultural area and the southwest of the Flinders district, gradually contracting to southern coasts during the afternoon. Mild to warm with mainly light winds, tending moderate northwesterly in the south during the day and fresh near the coast.Thursday 5 MayA slight chance of showers developing south of a line Port Lincoln to Keith and also in the far northwest, more likely about the Lower South East coast. Mild to warm with freshening northerly winds, strong near the coast, turning cooler southwesterly over western and central parts.Friday 6 May
Possible early fog about the West Coast district, far south of the North West Pastoral district and inland parts of Eyre Peninsula. Slight chance of showers about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East and also in the far northwest. Mild in the far south grading to warm in the far northeast. Moderate northwesterly winds near southern coasts but generally light winds elsewhere.
Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Friday are expected to be less than 2mm in the far north, less than 5 mm about the northern agricultural area, 5 to 10 mm about the southern agricultural area, reaching 10 to 20 mm about parts of the Mount Lofty Ranges, Kangaroo Island, the Lower South East and near the west coast of Lower Eyre Peninsula. Isolated falls of 20 to 30 mm are possible about the Mount Lofty Ranges and western Kangaroo Island.
Saturday until MondaySlight to medium chance of showers extending across the west and south during Saturday then over eastern districts on Sunday before contracting to the agricultural area on Monday. Mild to warm northerly winds freshening on Saturday ahead of a cooler southwesterly change in the west which will extend across remaining parts on Sunday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Tuesday.Product IDS10033
