Beans Hold Firm Tone

PANAMA - Apr 30/16 - SNS -- The world's dry edible bean markets continued to strengthen during the past week.

Combined with solid ongoing demand from Mexico, this helped lift the spot market index for U.S. beans 1.7 points higher on the week to finish at 146.1.

Strength in other pulses added to the underlying momentum, with the result the world pulse price index jumped 3.7 points to finish at 244 for a new record high. In the meantime, the Canadian index gained 1.5 points to close at 246.7, still short of its record high of 254.9, set in 2008.
