Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 29/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system over the eastern Tasman Sea will move past New Zealand during Saturday. A cold front is entering the Bight and is expected to cross the State early on Sunday. A ridge of high pressure will then develop north of the State behind this front late Sunday into Monday. Another cold front, connected to an intense low in the Southern Ocean, will cross the State early on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers over central and eastern areas, tending to rain in the northeast, easing during the evening. Isolated showers in the southwest clearing this evening while showers over central parts and Gippsland contract to the ranges. Dry in the northwest. Cloudy with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds.Saturday 30 AprilHumid with scattered showers over central and eastern districts, though mostly dry through central and east Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms developing in the north and about the adjacent ranges during the day, showers increasing in the northeast at night. Also mainly dry through western districts, though with isolated late showers developing in the far west. A generally warm and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Fire Danger -  Moderate to high.Sunday 1 MayScattered showers extending eastward during the morning, tending to rain areas in the northeast with possible heavy falls about the nearby ranges. Isolated thunderstorms extending eastward early in the morning, easing during the early afternoon. Showers and rain also easing and contracting to the coast and ranges in the afternoon, clearing by the evening. Fresh and gusty north to northwesterly winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change extending to the far east by early afternoon, squally near the coast. Winds easing in the west later.Monday 2 MayIsolated showers near the south Gippsland coast clearing in the morning, redeveloping in the southwest later in the day and tending scattered in the evening. Fine, dry and mostly sunny for the remainder. A cool day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 3 MayScattered showers in southern and mountain areas contracting to the coast and becoming isolated later in the day. Dry in the north apart from isolated showers in the northeast and near the Dividing Range during the day. Cool to mild with strong and gusty north to northwest winds ahead of a westerly change during the morning.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
