Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 28/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will drift towards New Zealand during today and Friday. Meanwhile a weak cold front over southwestern Victoria will slide southeastwards across Tasmania during today. The next cold front is expected to cross Victoria on Friday and yet another front will follow across the State late Saturday and early Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers in the southwest with isolated showers over remaining western and central areas. Fine over eastern areas. A mild to warm and partly cloudy day. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly wind in the east, strong at times over the Alps, becoming lighter in the west.Fire Danger -  High.Friday 29 AprilScattered showers extending eastwards and tending to rain areas over the northeast. Showers clearing from the western and central districts during the afternoon and evening. A mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Saturday 30 AprilScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over central and eastern districts, tending to thundery rain over the northeast at night with possible heavy falls. Mostly dry however over much of Gippsland. Scattered showers late in the day over the southwest. A mild and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Sunday 1 MayScattered showers over most districts and rain over the northeast, easing during the morning and gradually clearing eastwards during the afternoon and evening. Dry over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible over north central and northeast districts. A mild day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds gradually extending throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
