Lentil Markets Anticipate Seeding Intentions
PANAMA - Apr 16/16 - SNS -- Lentil markets were little changed during the past week, with markets waiting for Canada's seeding intentions report, which is due April 21.
Markets expect to see a major increase in area, but the amount of increase revealed by Statistics Canada remains an open question.
Interestingly, there is a history of lentil intentions falling short of the actual seeded area. Since 2006, only once were intentions higher than the final seeded area. That was in 2011 when farmers planted 5% fewer lentils than intended.
