Peas Maintain Firm Tone

PANAMA - Apr 16/16 - SNS -- North American field pea markets finished the week on a firmer note, as growers begin to think more about seeding this year's crops than marketing last year's.

That has contributed to tightening stocks on spot markets, which is making it hard for exporters to share the strength in the Canadian dollar with growers in the form of lower average bids.

With Canada still the world's most important exporter of yellow peas, the status of its dollar and grower attitudes have a significant impact on world trading levels and available supplies.
