Bulk Mustard Movement Lags 2015-16

PANAMA - Apr 9/16 - SNS -- Movement of bulk mustard seed through the porimary and terminal elevators system, in Canada continues to lag last year by a modest quantity, according to the latest data from the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC).

It reports 500 MT of bulk mustard seed export clearances through reporting terminals and primary elevators between March 28 to April 3. That lifted season to date exports to 13,100 MT, compared to 14,600 MT during the previous marketing year.

Farmers delivered 900 MT to primary elevators during the week. This lifts season to date deliveries by farmers to 23,200 MT, compared to 23,900 MT during the same period last season.

Elevators and terminals reported selling 100 MT of mustard seed to domestic buyers during the week. Season to date sales now total 4,700 MT, compared to 5,200 during the same period last season.

There are 5,800 MT of commercial stocks of mustard seed, including: 2,600 MT in primary elevators; 200 MT in West Coast ports; 2,300 MT in Thunder Bay; and 600 MT in St Lawrence ports. There are 2,200 MT if mustard in transit by rail to Canadian ports, compared to 3,500 MT the previous week.

For mustard seed in primary elevators: 1,500 MT are located in Manitoba; 1,100 MT in Saskatchewan; and none in Alberta.

The grade breakdown for the mustard seed instore Vancouver is 200 MT other grades. For mustard instore Thunder Bay, the breakdown is: 2,200 MT of No 1 Canada; and 200 MT of other grades. Product instore St. Lawrence ports includes 600 MT of other grades.
