Kabuli Chickpeas Explode

PANAMA - Mar 5/16 - SNS -- Kabuli chickpea markets exploded onto the radar screens of pulse traders at week's end as fears of small crops in Mexico became more tangible.

This saw exporters in Mexico and India withdraw from markets by week's end and markets anticipating massive price increases once trading resumes.

It now appears that Mexican exporters could be net short chickpeas, which has forced them to try to cover in existing positions before trying to make new sales.
