Pea Shipments Soar In January
WINNIPEG - Feb 26/16 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 250,900 metric tons (MT) field pea were loaded for export through licensed terminal and primary elevators which are required to report to it all grain movement in January.
The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals.
The CGC reports exports are up 15% from the 217,400 MT shipped the same month last year and more than triple the 76,800 MT loaded for export the previous month.
Movement for the first six months of the marketing year is up from the previous season, setting a record for the period. Shipments to date total 1.61 million MT, compared to 1.53 million during the same period last season.
