MELBOURNE - Feb 11/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast, while a weak inland trough lies from the northwest to the southeast. Over the next day or two, an upper level feature will move overhead, bringing the chance of a shower or thunderstorm to some eastern and central districts. On the weekend a return to more stable weather is expected as the upper feature moves away, leaving only the odd shower or two near the coast with the chance of a thunderstorm in the southeast on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers about the north coast. Showers and thunderstorms about the south coast and the southern and central ranges, extending in a band through the central west and northwest. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere, and hot this afternoon in the far west. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast. Light and variable winds over the northern inland, tending southerly in the south.Friday 12 FebruaryMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms on the southern and central ranges and coast, grading to a slight chance in the northeast and on the western slopes and plains. Mostly fine and sunny in the west. Hot in the far west. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast. Light and variable winds over the northern inland, tending southerly in the south.Saturday 13 FebruaryFine apart from the chance of a shower or two on the far north and south coasts. Mostly sunny. Hot in the west. East to northeasterly winds near the coast, tending west to northwesterly inland.Sunday 14 FebruarySlight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms along the southern and central coast and ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. North to northeasterly winds in the north and east ahead of a south to southeasterly change extending through other parts from the west.Monday 15 FebruaryShowers along the south and central coasts and eastern ranges, possibly extending to the western ranges and slopes and through the Hunter district, with the chance of thunderstorms. Fine and partly cloudy on the north coast. Fine and sunny in the remainder.
