Pea Shipments Fall In December

WINNIPEG - Jan 29/16 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 76,800 metric tons (MT) field pea were loaded for export through licensed terminal and primary elevators which are required to report to it all grain movement in December.

The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals.

The CGC reports exports are down 30% from the 110,500 MT shipped the same month last year and down 47% from the 144,500 MT loaded for export the previous month.

Movement for the first five months of the marketing year is up from the previous season, setting a record for the period. At the same, bulk clearances for the 2015 calendar year totaled 2.23 million MT, just shy of the record 2.26 million MT of bulk pea clearances in 2011.
