MELBOURNE - Nov 25/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge into southeast Queensland while a vigorous cold front approaches southwest NSW. This pattern is drawing hot northwesterly winds from central Australia into NSW. The cold front will bring milder conditions to southern NSW this morning, extending to central districts this afternoon before moving into northeast this evening and early Friday. Behind this, a weak ridge is expected to develop across New South Wales before a new high pressure centre forms over the Tasman Sea, restricting any shower activity to areas east of the Divide during the following few days. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayThe chance of a morning shower or two across the south, and the risk of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm in the northeast. Mostly sunny elsewhere, apart from some high cloud at times. Hot to very hot in the north, and through some central districts, with fresh to strong northeast to northwesterly winds. A milder, strong and gusty southwest to southerly change in the south and southwest during the morning, extending through central districts in the afternoon then further to the northeast this evening.Fire Danger - Severe: Greater Sydney, Greater Hunter, Northern Slopes, Northwestern. South to southeasterly winds throughout, turning east to northeasterly about the southern coast during the day.Saturday 28 NovemberA shower or two along the coast and adjacent ranges, with possible afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Light and variable winds inland, tending northeasterly near the coast.Sunday 29 NovemberThe chance of showers along the coast and adjacent ranges, more likely in the north. Possible afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.
