Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 25/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A surface trough extends from the northwest of the state into the southeast and should weaken whilst moving westwards into the southern interior through today. Instability will persist near and to the east of the surface trough over the several couple of days whilst a weak ridge will keep much of the east coast mostly fine. A new surface trough will enter the southwest of the state on Thursday and move eastwards into the southeast of the state towards the end of the week. Warm to hot conditions will persist through much of the interior and southeast in the days ahead.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayA slight chance of showers and storms in a band from through the northwest into the southeastern interior. Fine and mostly clear conditions are expected elsewhere. Moderate to fresh east to northeast winds, tending west to northwest in the southwest of the state.Thursday 26 NovemberA slight to medium chance of showers along the east coast north of Yeppoon. A slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms in the west and northwest of the state, extending into the southern interior and southeast inland. The remainder of the state should be fine and mostly sunny, including in the far southwest. Hot conditions will continue through much of the interior and southeast of the state. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeasterly winds, shifting southwesterly over the Channel Country.Fire Danger -  Severe over the Maranoa and Warrego, Very High over the Darling Downs and Northwest districts.Friday 27 NovemberThe weak ridge along the northeast tropical coast will bring the slight chance of showers in the onshore wind flow. The new trough is likely to move further east into the southeast of the state, resulting in the slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms over areas near and to its east. Storms will tend more likely, and possibly severe, about the southeast of the state where moisture and instability will be higher and winds in the upper atmosphere will be stronger. Hot to very hot conditions should continue over areas to the north and east of the trough, but cooler conditions should spread into the southwest of the state in the wake of the trough.Saturday 28 NovemberThe slight chance of showers along the eastern tropical coast in the onshore flow. The trough is likely to become slow moving, lying from the northwest of the state into the southeastern interior, resulting in showers and storms over areas near and to its east, more likely about the northwest and southeast of the state where moisture levels are higher. Hot to very hot conditions should continue over areas to the north and east of the trough, with cooler conditions in the southwest of the state the behind the trough, and in the southeast quarter of the state due to a cooler southeasterly change.Sunday 29 NovemberThe weak ridge will persist along the northeast tropical coast with the slight to medium chance of showers in the onshore winds. The slow moving trough is likely to extend from the northwest of the state into the southeastern interior. The trough will likely result in showers and storms over areas near and to its east, more likely about the northwest and southeast of the state where moisture levels are likely to be higher. Warm to hot conditions continue over much of the interior of the state.Monday until WednesdayThe weak ridge will persist along the northeast tropical coast with the slight to medium chance of showers in the onshore winds. The slow moving trough is likely to extend from the northwest of the state into the southeastern interior. The trough will likely result in showers and storms over areas near and to its east, more likely about the northwest and southeast of the state where moisture levels are likely to be higher.
